Change your Situation or the Mindset Towards it.

Change the situation or change your mindset towards it? Recently, my mind has been challenged in choosing between these two ways on a daily basis. I can either change the situation; that is if I have any control or influence over it or change the way I see the situation.
The former prompts me to take immediate action provided that my emotional state is in my control and not trying to stay afloat in a sea of chaos. If my emotions are in check, can I change this? is my first question. If yes, I move all my mental, emotional and physical resources to change it, fix it or make amends immediately. If I cannot change it, then onto the second choice, to change the mindset. The latter takes more time to execute. My mind goes on overdrive, brainstorming solutions while trying to self sabotage me on the other end. This takes discipline to follow through in changing the mindset and more so sticking to it, training the mind to adapt to the changes.
Self sabotage is tricky as the mind is so cunning in the way it thinks, especially when we are feeling down already. I usually go for doing the opposite of what my mind is telling me when I feel a hint of self sabotage starting to take hold. I caught myself in the act saying " Here we are doing this again Carlitos, focus".
A disciplined mind is important for me to help me stay on the path of happiness, moving swiftly from doing what is in my power to change things or changing the attitude towards it.
These are just two ways. What about you? What ways do you follow to be happy?
